Nemesis Overdrive
Tone that surpasses the ‘One’?
“There is one overdrive circuit that to this day has been the most talked about, the most sought after, and the most mythical of them all. It's big, it's expensive, and it has certainly earned its place at the table.” … Brian Wampler
Although Brian was talking about another pedal, that pretty much sums up what many of the great guitarists consider to be the ultimate overdrive pedal tone. Nemesis does not seek to replicate that, but we believe it achieves a tone that is every bit as ethereal as that of the ‘One’.
Nemesis is a versatile addition to your setup, and for any style. Stack it with the Pandora clean boost pedal to help push or shape the amount of gain, use it as a standalone overdrive, or use it as an ever-so-slight dirty boost to push the front end of your amp over the edge. You can even use it as a buffer, because the output is op-amp driven that achieves very low output resistance and high current drive capability. The Nemesis' streamlined 3 control knobs (Level, Gain, and Tone) allow you to quickly dial in your tones regardless of your amplifier’s EQ curve to give what the song calls for.
With a large input resistance of 1 MOhm, it won’t “suck the tone” out of your guitar even if it is fitted with super-hot high impedance humbuckers. And with a low output resistance and large signal drive capability, Nemesis can drive long leads or any other difficult signal chain with ease.

Design Philosophy
There are quite a few overdrive pedals on the market that implement the hallowed schematic. However, we decided to follow the spirit of the design rather than rehash its flesh and bones. So, the Nemesis is based on two cascaded discreet TransValve™ gain stages. The first amplifies the guitar signal cleanly and leaves plenty of headroom to preserve the natural dynamics. The second provides the gain necessary to take the signal into tube-like clipping. The Gain control allows the gain of this stage to be set for minimal distortion right up to full on asymmetric clipping.
In the spirit of the hallowed design, the clean signal from the first stage is tonally sculptured and fed forward to be mixed with the distorted signal of the second stage. This is part of the secret sauce that gives the mythical “transparent overdriven” sound that emanates, as if from the land of the gods. The composite signal is fed into a tone stack pitched at just the right frequency to give a breathtaking tonal palette for guitar.
As well as the three external controls, there is an internal jumper that allows the signal feedforward feature to be removed. This completely alters the signal dynamics and tonal spectrum and gives a more distortion-like sound.
Nemesis can be operated from an internal 9V battery but really begins to sing when powered from an external pedal power supply providing 12V and preferably 18V to facilitate a large amount of headroom.
